I decided yesterday that TODAY would be the day I started working out again on a regular basis. I woke up and got dressed in my workout clothes and I was going to go to the 9:30 Jazzercise class. I even double checked the Jazzercise schedule last night before I went to bed.
But, this morning life happened. My son was riding his scooter last night and the front wheel broke and he fell and his neck somehow landed on top of his handle bar. Leaving a bruised red ring right on his neck! It knocked the wind out of him, but he seemed be ok. Today he said he couldn’t move his neck, so we decided a doctor’s appointment was in order.
My husband took him to the doctor right at 8am and I got my daughter ready for school and to the bus stop at 9:10. The doctor didn’t have an X-ray machine, so my boys headed to the ER. My husband said that he wanted to sit with him for a few and then I could meet them and get my son so that he could eventually make it back to work.
I then realized my daughter forgot her lunch, so I drove up to the school, dropped off her lunch, and then headed to Winn Dixie to drop of the Redbox rental that was now 2 days old.
Steve wasn’t ready for me to meet him and get Steven, so I left the JEEP at Winn Dixie grabbed my phone, started the RunKeeper app and ran.
I made it 2.5 miles and I was surprised that my pace was at about 11 minutes and 30 seconds. I will admit that I kept praying to hear the RunKeeper apps voice telling me that I made it another 5 minutes…I had a cramp within 10 minutes in my side, then it moved to my shoulder but I focused on my breathing (In thru the nose and out thru the mouth!) and I managed to work my way through them.
I will admit that when I saw the JEEP sitting in the parking lot I picked up my pace because I realized the end was in sight.
I did it. I started my exercise journey today. Today, I gave myself no excuses and I made it happen. No one is going to make my journey easier, no one is going to make my journey happen. So, today I gave myself no excuses.
I ran 2.5 miles and I will drink my 48 oz of water today. I promise me that. I know those may seem like small goals, but they are mine.
So, how about you? Do you get excited when you see that your goal is in sight? Have you started your road to a healthier you?
