I made it to Jazzercise today! I am so excited! Sadie slept in late and the kids had to eat their breakfast on the way to the bus, but I made it. No excuses 🙂 I told you guys that I checked out the new schedule and Fusion was the 9:30 class today and that was the one I really wanted to try out. It is a new class, and since I haven’t been in 4 weeks – this was one I wanted to try.
Fusion was a great mix between strength and cardio – we seemed to switch back and forth every few songs. My heart rate was up 90% off the class and I definitely got a good workout in. One of the reasons I started Jazzercise so long ago was that it was something different, fun, and the music is always a plus. Along the way I gained friends, had some friends (and my mom!) join, and I have to say that I was happy to be back in the class again today.
They say that it takes 30 days to make something a habit, and I will be working on that 30 day mark. I want exercise to be a part of my daily life again. You may have read on my other blog that I was protesting working out for awhile, so here I am – ready to stop protesting!
I am also ready to trade in one of my favorite treats. My Starbucks. I will NOT say that I am giving it up…but my favorites are usually the Vanilla Macchiato or the Cinnamon Dolce. I always get Skim milk, but….I am switching to the Skinny Vanilla Latte. It is 100 calories for the tall – and that will now be my treat. I tried it for the first time yesterday and I was not disappointed, so that will now be my Starbucks treat. Because I will be honest – totally cutting out Starbucks isn’t likely to happen in my world 🙂 And I don’t think we have to cut out everything we enjoy – I think that some things just need a small adjustment…and today my new adjustment is the Skinny Vanilla Latte.
Today, on my Healthier Life Journey I drank my 48 oz of water, I went to Jazzercise, I made a commitment to the Skinny Vanilla Latte, and I SANG MY HEART OUT. What?! Yes, I drove the Jeep is Jazzercise today and I turned up that radio and I sang as loud as I could and boy – did it feel good! I used to sing in the car all the time when I was younger – folks would look at me and laugh..and that just made me smile more. Somehow, as I got older – I end up spending my time talking on the phone while I’m driving or deep in thought about all the things that I have to get done. But, singing always lifts my spirits. When was the last time you sang so loud that the people in the other cars looked at you funny? My recommendation…DO IT!
Turn up that radio and enjoy your Healthier Life Journey…Enjoy that SMILE!
