As you can see, I was slow and steady today on my run. I think it’s important to remember that a run doesn’t have to be a 10 minute mile…if you can do that – GREAT, but if you run at a 12-13 minute pace – that’s fine too. As long as you are getting out and exercising, that is what is important.
I think that we set these invisible goals on ourselves and quite frankly, I think we can be too hard on US. I think there is a saying somewhere that is “You are your hardest critic.” That being said, I think that it’s US that stops us from starting a new “journey” or “routine”. We think that it’s too hard and we can’t do it, or that our time doesn’t allow it so why even bother.
Well folks – you don’t know until you TRY.
Isn’t that what we tell our kids “Just try it, you may like it.” Let’s try to practice what we preach 🙂 Just TRY it. TRY that new exercise class, try that new food that it supposed to be lower-calorie, try smiling more, try eating dinner earlier, just try it!
I know I am trying a few new things on my journey, and I know that there will be things that I don’t like and that I won’t stick with, but I am going to TRY it. I WILL continue on my Journey.
They say it takes 30 days to make something a habit, and I will admit that my run today wasn’t the #1 thing on my list today, but I knew that if I didn’t go right then, I would make excuses for me to not make it today. So, I made NO EXCUSES and I made that slow and steady run, and I am continuing on 🙂
I did get my 48 oz of water in today and I did eat my apples and a banana and tomorrow my goal is to get to Jazzercise again.
I did have my Stuffed Crab Cake Bowls for lunch though…at least the cream cream was low-fat and crab isn’t bad for me!
So, here is your challenge for when you are ready for it…just TRY it – you may find out that you like it 😉
p.s. I use the RunKeeper App and have been happy with it, but I would love to hear if you guys have one that you really like!
