I just had to update you on the Fooducate App that I told you guys about last week! Ok I have had sooo much fun scanning things (I am making my husband a little nuts!)… it is just another step in educating myself to healthy options. Some were real eyeopeners, I got some Veggie De-Lites muffins and thought it was a good selection for my specific food plan but found out that by scanning they have a lot of sugar per serving and that gave them a low score.
So one of my favorites that I have mentioned is Vitalicious double chocolate Vita-Tops and the mini muffins, I crossed my fingers as I scanned and they were given a B +. Whew thank heavens I love those for a snack especially when I am craving chocolate! I have made some simple changes this week after scanning some of my regular products.
Here are the ratings from my foods to my NEW foods.
Food From My Pantry:
- Banquet fully cooked turkey sausage links rated C
- Land of Lakes light butter with canola oil rated D+
- Smart Balance creamy Peanut Butter did well at a B
Switched to:
- Switched to Jimmy Dean fully cooked turkey sausage links given B-
- Switched to Land O’Lakes spreadable butter with canola oil given C+
- Decided to switch to Mara Natha creamy Almond Butter which was given A
I love that when you scan it gives you healthier alternatives, I switched my regular creamer to Coconut milk french vanilla creamer for a higher rating. Now I have to admit I was a little skeptical about it but it really tastes great, but you have to like coconut flavor!
Now don’t get me wrong I know these are not huge differences but since I am learning how to make the best choices this App has been perfect. It reaffirmed that some of my favorites such as Quinoa Tabouli that I get from Costco which I love is indeed a good choice rated it B+ and gave it a comment of Nice! 100% whole grain.
So am I telling you to not buy any of these products of course not but it gives you something to think about. Scan on!
